About

Reiki

Reiki is a safe and natural spiritual healing method. Developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist named Mikao Usui, it was designed as a balance and healing practice for all to use.

Reiki is a Japanese word formed by two words: Rei — meaning universal wisdom or higher power — and Ki — meaning life force energy — and can be thought of as spiritually-guided life-force energy.

Classes, or attunements, are designed to assist the stundent in learning how to tap into the life-force energy thereby improving the quality of health and life in themselves and others. There are three degrees or levels of Reiki: Reiki Healer, Reiki Distance Healer, and Reiki Master/Teacher.

During a reiki session the practitioner serves as a conduit through which the universal life-force energy is transmitted to the recipient. A reiki treatment is designed to cover all aspects of life: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. A good reiki session can do wonders for anyone's disposition. Humans, animals, and even plants can all benefit from reiki.

Quite often when giving reiki both the practitioner as well as the receiver can receive messages. These messages can come in many forms: information about health, personal life, past and present calendar as well as the possibility of contact with spirit guides or passed family and friends. While this is by no means a guaranteed occurrence it is not uncommon.

What is a Reiki session like?

We all have energy centers within our bodies called chakras. Energy, like a fluid, needs to be able to flow. If one or more of the chakras gets blocked and the energy cannot flow, we often feel it on a physical level. It may manifest itself in the form of lethargy, aches and pains, and sometimes an illness. Reiki is an energetic healing modality that helps align and balance the chakras. Reiki works to bring together the body, mind, and spirit. It can be successful in treating headaches, speeding up the healing process after surgery, relieving anxiety, lessening the effects of a cold, etc.

Chakras

Chakras are energy centers that allow life energy to enter the body. There are seven major chakras located just in front of and aligned vertically with the spine. Each chakra has a color associated with it and governs nearby organs or glands. Chakra is the Sanskrit word for wheel and it is believed the chakras look like wheels of various colors, spinning in opposite directions.

It is easy to pick up energy from other people, animals, and situations. This can also cause the chakras to become off-balance and absorb some of the negative energies and become blocked. When they are not in balance or get blocked then you may notice a sense of unease or might not feel well. When the chakras are all balanced and cleared, the energy can flow freely and one would feel a sense of peace and well being. Reiki and meditation can help clear and balance the chakras.

Root Chakra
The first chakra is the Root Chakra, located at the base of the spine. The color is red and it is associated with survival — how we take care of our home, body, and finances — and grounding. It's element is earth and the stones are Garnet, Smoky Quartz, Black Tourmaline, Hematite, Red Jasper, and Obsidian.
Sacral Chakra
The Sacral Chakra is the second chakra and is located just below the naval. Its color is orange and its element is water. It is associated with sexuality, desire, and emotional identity — our intimate relationships with ourselves and others — and its stones are Coral, Camelian and Tiger Eye.
Solar Plexus
The third chakra is the Solar Plexus which is a couple of inches above your naval, its color is yellow and its element is fire. It is associated with the sense of self and will power. The stones associated with the third chakra are Amber, Topaz, and Citrine.
Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is the fourth chakra. It is green and is associated with social identity, compassion and the ability to give and receive love. Its element is air and its stones are Peridot, Rose Quartz, Malachite, Green Aventurine, and Emerald.
Throat Chakra
The fifth chakra is the Throat Chakra. It is blue in color, and is associated with creativity and communication. Its element is sound and its stones are Turquoise, Aquamarine and Sodalite.
Brow Chakra
The Brow or Third Eye Chakra is the sixth chakra and is located in the middle of the forehead. It is indigo in color, contributes to your intuition and perception, and governs how we see ourselves and others. Its element is light and its associated stones are Lapis Lazuli, Sodalite, Flourite, and Iolite.
Crown Chakra
The seventh chakra is the Crown Chakra. It is your sense of spirituality and the connection to your higher self and the universe. The color associated with it is purple, and the element is light. The stones associated with this chakra are Amethyst, Clear Quarts, and Iolite.

Auras

Just as chakras are energy centers within the body, the Aura is the external energy field surrounding the body. Every living thing — people, plants, animals, and even insects — all have auras.

Auras have layers to them, vibrating on different and distinct frequencies, affecting not only each other but the feelings and behaviors of the person as well. Any layer of an aura being "out of balance" will cause imbalance in the others. Imbalance in your aura can also cause many physical symptoms including, but not limited to, mood swings, emotional outbursts, and erratic thinking and behaviors. Learning to cleanse and balance your auras on a regular basis can eliminate these symptoms and bring harmony and equilibrium to your life.

Meditation

The use of meditation for healing and self awareness is not new. Meditation itself can be traced as far back as 1500BC and can be linked through various similar definitions to practically every religion on the planet.

Meditation refers to the practice of training one's mind to induce a certain level of consciousness in order to reach a certain outcome. It is not hard or complicated, however it does require practice and commitment. Daily meditation done correctly has numerous benefits: peace of mind, controlled emotions, reduced stress levels, even physical enhancements such as reduced blood pressure and improved metabolic functions.*

It is of great importance to tend to your inner-self. Meditation can help calm you, reduce stress and make you more productive in your daily activities. Our group meditation topics include but are not limited to relaxation, stress reduction, chakra balancing, manifesting, past life regression. Most people do not commit to the routine of meditation or even know how to start. While solitary meditation is paramount in reaching balance in your own life, "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" certainly applies to the increased energy of a group meditation.

We offer weekly guided meditation classes to help you get started, and a support system to keep you on track. All levels are welcome. Feel free to contact us with any inquiries.
